In the year following Manchester City's famous treble, Pep Guardiola is handed a difficult challenge in the quest to defend the club's FA Cup crown as they visit Tottenham in the fourth round.

Last year's title run saw Man City face both Chelsea and Arsenal in the early rounds of the competition before meeting three straight Championship sides en route to the final against Man United. This season, they have again been drawn against a big Premier League club in a preliminary round.

Tottenham have been bounced from the FA Cup earlier than expected for several years running, as it's been their kryptonite in recent attempts. Spurs reached the FA Cup semifinals in 2017, but have since failed to reach past the fifth round in five consecutive campaigns.

With Erling Haaland a doubt to participate for Man City despite having returned to training, Spurs will still have a difficult test against one of Europe's most formidable foes, now back to their best on a six-match winning streak across all competitions.

Tottenham vs Man City prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Manchester City (-130)
  • Score prediction: Tottenham 2-3 Man City

These two teams have made a habit of producing entertaining and memorable matchups, and another fun one should be on the cards here. Man City's forwards are in exceptional form, and Tottenham are also scoring for fun in recent weeks.

Spurs have suffered some injuries along the defensive line, which will see them struggle to keep up with City's world-class attacking unit, but they will have plenty of chances themselves against a Pep Guardiola defensive unit that has not covered themselves in glory this campaign.

Tottenham vs Man City: best bet

  • Pick: Over 3.5 total goals
  • Odds: +100 (DraftKings)

These two teams have made a habit of producing barn burners across 90 minutes of late. Following a pair of 1-0 results split between each home side in 2021, they have seen a total of 18 goals scored across their last four meetings. Even the lone low-scoring result in that span, a 1-0 Spurs home win last February, boasted 27 total shots worth a combined 2.68 xG.

Their chaotic 3-3 draw in December featured a goal for each side in the final 10 minutes of action, with Jack Grealish putting Man City up in the 81st minute before Dejan Kulusevski's equalizer in the final minute of regulation.

Even against other opponents, the recent attacking form of both clubs has been exceptional. Man City have put up at least 2.0 expected goals in five straight Premier League games, while Tottenham have produced multiple goals in a whopping six straight EPL matches. This should be another fun one.

Tottenham vs Man City prop bet

  • Pick: Julian Alvarez anytime goal scorer
  • Odds: +120 (DraftKings)

With Erling Haaland expected to miss another match due to injury before making his way back onto the pitch, Julian Alvarez will know his chances to enjoy starting-caliber minutes are condemned to conclude shortly.

The Argentine has been exceptional up front in the past month with Haaland sidelined. Over his past five Premier League matches, Alvarez has collected two goals on 3.5 xG, suggesting he is due for a strike as he gobbles up chances in front of goal. With Kevin de Bruyne back in action, Jeremy Doku healthy, and Phil Foden sparkling this season, Alvarez should have plenty more chances here in what could develop into a shootout. Plus odds here are a gift.
