Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does not expect Manchester United to go 30 years without winning the title, stating Liverpool's drought should be a lesson for his club to learn from.
The Old Trafford side last won the English top flight in the 2012-13 season, during the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson's final campaign in charge before retiring, with the Red Devils' fortunes taking a drastic downturn since the Scot's departure.
Solskjaer is the latest manager charged with returning the club to their former glories and he continues to insist that United are planning for the long term as they look to avoid the same fate as Liverpool, who are only now on course to lift the Premier League title after three decades of domestic disappointment.

“That's what we're working hard to make sure doesn't happen,” the 46-year-old replied when asked if United could go as long as their bitter rivals without a league title. “Let [Liverpool] be a lesson for us.
“We can't let ourselves go another 24 years without winning the league. I believe in this club. We will get there.”
While work continues both behind the scenes and on the pitch for United, Solskjaer is under no illusions as to where his club sit in the Premier League pecking order in the short term, as he pointed out when asked to name the best team in the league.
“The proof is in the league table,” he said. “Liverpool have been the best team in the league. Man City gives you a different challenge to what Liverpool does, two very different ways of playing football.
“I've had both wins and defeats there at Anfield as a player so you've got to look forward to these games. It's a great challenge for our players to play against the leaders of the league.
“We've done well the last couple of times but away at Anfield is another matter. You can make sure you enjoy it but it can also be an intimidating place. We've got to prepare as well as we can.”
United head to Anfield on Sunday as the only team to have taken points off Liverpool in the Premier League this season following a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in October.
However, Solskjaer's side trail Jurgen Klopp's runaway leaders by 27 points in the table, having also played a game more.
