Nigeria’s Samuel Adegbenro was on target in Rosenborg’s 5-2 defeat at home to Salzburg in Thursday’s Europa League clash.

The Norwegian side came into the encounter with the ambition of getting their first win of the competition; however, they ended the tie with basket full of goals.

Takumi Minamino’s hat-trick and Fredrik Gulbrandsen effort handed the Austrians a 4-0 lead going into the halftime break.

In the 52nd minute, Rosenborg reduced the deficit through the 22-year-old Nigerian who converted from Nicklas Bendtner’s assist.

Things got worse for Rini Coolen’s men after Even Hovland turned the ball into his net to help Salzburg maintain their four-goal lead.

Bendtner assisted Mike Jensen for the Troll Children’s second of the night but that was fruitless as they ended the game on a losing note.

Adegbenro’s Rosenborg remain at the base of Group B with zero point and (-9) goals difference. The host third-place Celtic in their next outing on November 29.
