EA Sports have brought in another celebrity guest for a FIFA 19 Squad Battle (SB) and they have potentially secured an ever bigger star than heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua.
This week, the challenge is rapper Childish Gambino, the alter ego of acting and writing sensation Donald Glover, who will provide the voice to Simba in the upcoming live action remake of the Lion King after previously starring in hit shows Community and Atlanta as well as the blockbuster Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Childish Gambino, who already appears in FIFA 19 with his song ‘Summertime Magic’ on the soundtrack, is now on Ultimate Team as players can try to defeat the AI playing as the musician’s squad to receive prizes. For this particular SB, players will receive a special edition kit after completing the challenge.
That’s easier said than done however, as Gambino has gathered an immense squad with a rating of 86. The rapper has opted for a 4-3-3 flat formation with a Paris Saint-Germain trio acting as the core of his backline.
In goal is 88- rated Gianluigi Buffon with teammates Thiago Silva, also 88-rated, and 85-rated Champions League Presnel Kimpembe. The rapper has then opted for pacey wingbacks who are both in-forms with Juventus’ 87-rated Alex Sandro and 84-rated Kenny Lala from Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg Alsace. The latter is having a sensational season with this card being his second inform already and his surname could be a reference to Gambino’s song Me and Your Mama which contains the lines: “I'm in love when we are smokin' that la-la-la-la-la.”
Then in midfield three, Gambino has opted for N’Golo Kante, Paul Pogba and Ones To Watch Radja Nainggolan. All three are excellent box-to-box midfielders who are good at both attacking and defending. Cracking this trio will be key when looking for victory.
Finally, there is the front-line which is truly terrifying with 86-rated Douglas Costa and 88-rated Mohamed Salah on the wings and in-form 88-rated Mauro Icardi upfront. The wingers will cause plenty of problems with 95 and 92 pace, respectively, and should me more than capable to create chances for Icardi, who boasts 94 positioning and 93 finishing.
Icardi’s potency is scary so you will want to limit his chances as much as possible which should be possible considering the Argentine only has 79 pace. Otherwise the glaring weakness for this team is Lala who is the lowest rated in the team. With Pogba and Salah in front of him, Lala will be isolated and vulnerable - forcing Kante to cover and in turn, creating space in the middle.
