Even without three postponed matches, it's still one of the biggest days on the Premier League calendar. The traditional Boxing Day weekend slate is the start of a holiday week full of matches that can make or break a season for some teams.

A total of 12 clubs will be in action on the day after Christmas following the postponements of Liverpool-Leeds, Wolves-Watford and Burnley-Everton due to COVID-19. Manchester United and Newcastle are the only other teams left out of Boxing Day proper since they're set to play a day later on Dec. 27.

There is plenty at stake. Chelsea visits an in-form Aston Villa side and needs a result to avoid slipping further out of the title race. Leaders Manchester City hosts Leicester City hoping to continue its Premier League barrage, having outscored opponents 12-0 over its last three matches.

At the other end of the table, Norwich City eyes a home win to lift its survival hopes against high-flying Arsenal.

Premier League betting tips & picks

Last week: 2-1
Season total:  2-1 (since Dec. 19)

Pick: Tottenham to win & over 2.5 parlay (2.54)

Antonio Conte finally has Spurs truly playing the way he wants, and it shows on the pitch. The North London side is unbeaten in five Premier League matches, and COVID-19 interruptions have not disrupted that run of form.

In addition, this Spurs side has owned Crystal Palace at home in recent history, winning seven of the last eight home league matches in a row by a combined 15-1 with six clean sheets.

The game also has a real shot to go over. Matches involving Spurs have seen goals this season, with nine of their last 12 league games hitting the 3-goal mark. Palace can score, too, and it's only been blanked five times this season, two of which came in the opening two matches on the campaign. Patrick Vieira's men also put three past Spurs the last time they faced off back in September.

Pick: Arsenal -1.5 spread (2.07)

This Arsenal team is on a roll, and somehow it’s still possible to get over 2.0 odds against a reasonable spread, because people love to bet against the Gunners. There’s clearly a lot of hurt still lingering for some Premier League fans.

MORE: Why Aubameyang was stripped of captain's armband

But we’re not shying away. This Arsenal team has crushed lower-caliber opposition all season long, with an opening day loss to Brentford and a blip against Everton the only blemishes against bottom-half opposition this season. Another stat in favor of the Gunners: In Arsenal’s last eight league games against Norwich, it has won six, with four of those coming by multiple goals.

Pick: Chelsea -0.5 spread (1.67)

Sure, Chelsea's on a tough run, and the game against Villa is a difficult test, as Steven Gerrard has performed well in his first few weeks in charge. That won't be enough on Boxing Day.

How about this for original content: The last time Chelsea was shut out two Premier League matches in a row in the same season was Jan 30, 2019. In games after being shut out over that span (in the same season), the Blues are 16-1-4, averaging about two goals per game and riding a seven-match win streak.

MORE: Why Tuchel should switch up tactics now

After being blanked last time out against Wolves (0-0), this Chelsea team will be hungry to get back on the scoresheet. Its defense has been leaky enough to suggest Villa may find the back of the net at some point, but there's too much variance in Villa's recent results to trust any spread with greater value.
