Newcastle United's transformation into one of the wealthiest clubs in the world since they were taken over by a consortium backed by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund has also seen them become contenders for trophies again on the pitch.
Mapgies head coach Eddie Howe has played down his impressive team's chances of challenging for the Premier League title.
Howe has never won a major domestic trophy as a player or manager and is looking to put that right with a resurgent squad who had the meanest defensive record in the top flight after 20 games of 2022/23.

Newcastle United last cup final: When was their last showpiece?
The Toon Army last made the long journey from Tyneside to London for a major final when their club took part in the 1998/99 FA Cup final.
They did, however, win a cup of sorts in 2006, when they were pronounced the winners of the Intertoto Cup – a minor European competition run in the summer by UEFA that is fondly remembered by many but lightly regarded in terms of silverware.
Newcastle did not have to play in a final to triumph in the competition. Having reached the third of three rounds, they won by virtue of being the team involved in the competition to progress furthest in that season's UEFA Cup.
Newcastle last trophy: What have the Magpies won?
The last major trophy Newcastle won was in the 1954/55 season, when they lifted the FA Cup by beating Manchester City.
Around 100,000 fans were said to have watched the game at the old Wembley in London, where Newcastle legend Jackie Milburn opened the scoring in the first minute.
It was the sixth time they had won the competition and the third of four FA Cup wins for Newcastle from the 1950/51 season.
Newcastle won the Charity Shield in 1909 and have won the top flight four times, last doing so in 1927.
Of the four times they have won the second tier, two came in recent years: they lifted the EFL Championship trophy in 2009/10 and 2016/17 as they fluctuated between promotion and relegation from the Premier League.
Newcastle FA Cup final and Carabao Cup final record
Newcastle lost in the FA Cup final three times in four seasons between 1905 and 1908, scoring a solitary goal in those appearances.
They returned to lose again three seasons later and were beaten 3-0 in the 1973/74 final by Liverpool, for whom Kevin Keegan — now a Newcastle legend — scored twice.
Keegan had just finished a first spell as Newcastle head coach in which he threatened to lead them to Premier League glory when they reached the final again.
Arsenal beat Newcastle 2-0 in the 1997/98 final, and they lost by the same scoreline to Manchester United in the subsequent final.
Newcastle also reached the final of the Carabao Cup when it was known as the Football League Cup in 1975/76, losing 2-1 to Manchester City.
What is Newcastle's FA Cup/EFL Cup record?
The FA Cup semifinal appearance in 2004/05 was the only time Newcastle have reached that stage of a domestic competition during the 21st century.
Their poor recent record continued in the FA Cup this season, losing in the third round at third-tier Sheffield Wednesday.
