Hector Moreno earned real-life and virtual recognition this week.
The Mexico center back scored his debut goal for Real Sociedad and turned in a quality defensive performance against Alaves to earn a spot in EA Sports' FIFA 18 Ultimate Team of the Week. Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio will be happier to see Moreno on the actual field, considering the left-footed player had suffered an injury that had his status in doubt for Mexico's friendly matches later this month. Now, it appears Moreno will be ready to give his best in the last games ahead of World Cup camp convening.
Porto exited the UEFA Champions League this week with Diego Reyes starting at center back and Jesus "Tecatito" Corona also in the starting lineup at Liverpool. A scoreless draw at Anfield was a much better result than the 5-0 thumping the Dragons took in the round of 16 first leg. While the midweek news was sour, Hector Herrera joined Reyes and Corona on the field earlier in the week for a rivalry win against Sporting.
Frankfurt has been a bright spot for Mexicans Abroad, but this week the spotlight dimmed. Carlos Salcedo wasn't in Niko Kovac's squad in a 1-0 win over Hannover. Marco Fabian, back from the injury that has kept him off the field most of the season, was in the 18 but didn't get off the bench in the victory.
