What is Mason Mount's transfer value? Transfer details as Man United move is confirmed image

Manchester United have completed a deal to sign England international Mason Mount from rivals Chelsea.

The Blues have reluctantly accepted to sell the 24-year-old after he rejected a long-term contract extension at Stamford Bridge at the back end of last season.

United have highlighted Mount as a possible option in their midfield rebuild as Erik ten Hag plans for the 2023/24 Premier League campaign.

However, the transfer negotiations have not been without complications, as Chelsea have pushed for their full asking price and United looked to strike a deal.

What is Mason Mount transfer value?

As per an estimate from Transfermarkt, Mount was valued at £51.5 million/$65.7 million at Chelsea, just under the reported price they wanted for him this summer.

United have been persistent in their desire to sign Mount, with previous reports from BBC Sport claiming they had three bids rejected, including an offer of £55m/$70.1m.

Chelsea were pushing for £58m/$74m, plus a potential £7m/$8.9m extra in add-ons. United felt this was an unfair price given Chelsea signed Raheem Sterling from Manchester City for less in 2022, when the England winger had a year left on his contract.

A fourth bid, of £55m/$70.1m, but with £5m/$6.35m in add ons included, was eventually accepted as United look to manage their Financial Fair Play obligations and the potential stumbling block of a takeover process that is still not concluded.

Mason Mount fee compared to Premier League rivals

The Premier League summer transfer market is likely to be dominated by moves for midfielders as Manchester City, Arsenal, United and Liverpool look to strengthen their engine rooms.

Liverpool secured a move for Alexis Mac Allister for an initial £35m/$43m fee, a significantly lower price than United's deal for Mount — solid business for a World Cup winner.

Mount's best pal Declan Rice is ready to complete an incredible £100m/$127m, plus £5m/$6.35m in add ons, move to Arsenal from West Ham as part of the most expensive transfer for a British player.

Brighton have put an £80m/$102m price tag on Moises Caicedo, with Mount's Chelsea teammate Kai Havertz already signing for Arsenal in a £65m/$83m switch.

Mac Allister is the closest positional comparison to Mount and the fee Liverpool paid for the Argentina international highlights the potential risk United are taking.
