Sadio Mane extended his impressive Premier League record having found the net in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Senegal international doubled the Reds’ advantage in the 24th minute after Jordan Henderson had put Jurgen Klopp’s men ahead in the fourth minute.

Benefitting from a fine cross from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the African star hit the ball past goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

Despite their two-goal lead, Liverpool failed to seal all points at stake as the Seagulls clawed back to pick an away point with Enock Mwepu and Leandro Trossard finding the net.

With his effort against Graham Potter’s men, Mane has not lost any of the 52 Premier League home games in which he has scored (47 wins and five draws).

That statistical mark is the best unbeaten record in the competition’s history.

In his post-match reaction, manager Klopp stated that the goal scored by the former Southampton star is his favourite since he joined the team six years back.

“Sadio’s second goal was my favourite goal of all six years in Liverpool because of how we put them under pressure there; it was just insane and unlucky with the handball,” the German tactician was quoted by the club website.

“Then they scored their goal – not sure if it was a cross or not, but who cares because the ball was in – and we didn’t play enough football anymore, not the right football.

“In our good moments, we attacked the centre of Brighton, which is where you have to do it and then we didn’t do that anymore.

“We slowed the game down in the wrong moments, we didn’t show enough initiative in other moments and that’s then just not good enough.”

Even with the disappointing draw, Liverpool occupy second spot on the log with three points separating them from leaders Chelsea.

Unbeaten in their last 16 matches in all competitions, Liverpool would be hoping to return to winning ways when they visit West Ham United on November 7.

Prior to that crunch tie versus the Hammers, they square up against Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid four days earlier.
