Fresh from winning their first trophy in six years, Manchester United kept their search for more silverware this season alive after coming from behind to beat West Ham 3-1 in the FA Cup fifth round.

After a see-sawing first half ended goalless, it was the Hammers that broke the deadlock in the 54th minute as United's defence switched off and Said Benrahma scored a stunner. West Ham would also strike next but this time at the wrong end as a Bruno Fernandes corner was accidentally nodded home by Nayef Aguerd.

With extra time looming, United youngster Alejandro Garnacho stepped up in the 90th minute as he curled home a brilliant effort worthy of winning any match. Not done there, Fred sealed the result with one of the last kicks of the game after a defensive mishap from the Hammers.

Manchester United extend their undefeated run in all competitions to 11 games, with rivals Liverpool awaiting them next in the Premier League on Sunday, March 5. They were also drawn against Fulham in the FA Cup quarterfinals, set to host the Cottagers at Old Trafford on March 18.

FULLTIME: Manchester United 3-1 West Ham

The Red Devils left it late but complete a fine comeback at Old Trafford as they move into the quarterfinals. West Ham proved worthy midweek opposition but United's substitutes made all the difference late on as they finished much stronger. Another standout performance from Garnacho who bagged a stunning late goal.

90+5 min: GOAL! Fred puts the icing on the cake for United after West Ham cough up possession in their own box.

90+3 min: Rashford goes within inches of wrapping this match up but his effort goes narrowly wide of the far post.

90th min: GOAL! Garnacho with a beauty to surely win it late on for United. Weghorst's blocked shot falls to Garnacho in the box, who takes a perfect first touch to tee himself up and bends the ball into the bottom right corner. He's threatened that all game and delivered in the dying moments.

89th min: A reminder that this match will go to extra time if the scores remain tied after 90 minutes.

87th min: Fernandes finds himself in some space down the left flank and tries to pick out Rashford in the middle but his pass is just too weak.

85th min: West Ham up against it here as the Red Devils win corners in quick succession. Fred brought on for Sabitzer in between them as United chase victory in regular time.

83rd min: United whip in a dangerous ball into the box which Casemiro gets his head to but Areola saves easily enough.

82nd min: Garnacho goes down in the box after a heavy challenge but the referee isn't interested and VAR doesn't intervene.

77th min: GOAL! The Red Devils have equalised following a corner. West Ham defender Aguerd with the header as he picks up an unfortunate own goal.

72nd min: United think they've pulled level through Casemiro but the midfielder was offside as the goal is eventually ruled out.

67th min: Rashford looking dangerous every time he's got on the ball. His first real shot dribbles harmlessly wide but you'd back him testing West Ham's goal soon enough considering the form he's in.

65th min: Casemiro hits one from distance which requires a solid save from Areola. Weghorst once again laying it off perfectly at the top of the box.

63rd min: West Ham once again asking serious questions of United's defence as Antonio bursts past Martinez but he can't get his shot past a determined De Gea.

59th min: CLOSE! West Ham nearly double their lead as Fornals pulls his shot just wide of goal.

58th min: United waste no time shaking things up in search of a response as Rashford and Martinez come on at the expense of Anthony and Lindelof.

54th min: GOAL! West Ham open the scoring through Benrahma. The Algerian finishes brilliantly after United switch off thinking the ball had gone out which allowed the Hammers a chance to create something down the left flank.

53rd min: Sabitzer and Fernandes combine brilliantly at the top of the box with the latter unable to get a shot away despite his best efforts to shove a West Ham defender out of his path.

51st min: Soucek forces a save from De Gea with a header at the back post. It was an awkward one for the United keeper who has to dive low to his right.

50th min: The first corner of the half is won by United who go short with the ball eventually falling to Antony but the Brazilian can't strike it cleanly as his effort is collected easily by Areola.

46th min: We are back underway at Old Trafford with McTominay replaced by Casemiro at the break. Quick reminder that we will need a winner tonight with no replays on offer at this stage of the competition

HALFTIME: Manchester United 0-0 West Ham

No goals in a fairly entertaining first 45 minutes at Old Trafford. Both teams have created good chances but a lack of cutting edge and some great goalkeeping has seen the scoresheet remain untouched.

United have shown few signs of a Carabao Cup final hangover with Garnacho and Sabitzer catching the eye. West Ham have looked dangerous at times too with Antonio asking plenty of questions.

With Maguire and McTominay on yellow cards, Ten Hag may opt to change things to avoid the risk of being brought down to 10 men.

45th min: Only one minute of injury-time to come as both teams look to break the deadlock late on.

41st min: Garnacho once again not afraid to pull the trigger after Fernandes lets a ball run to the winger. The shot flies over the crossbar but feels like only a matter of time before he tests Areola.

38th min: A poor giveaway from De Gea nearly proves costly as Antonio manages to get a shot away but the United goalkeeper is equal to the effort.

35th min: Benrahma charges forward dangerously and lays it off for Emerson, who scuffs a poor shot across goal.

31st min: De Gea has to be alert to cut out a cross across goal from Benrahma. West Ham asking plenty of questions in attack when they get a chance.

27th min: Maguire with a sloppy challenge on Antonio and he picks up the game's first yellow card.

23rd min: CLOSE! West Ham's best chance of the game so far sees Antonio break clear on goal but he arguably takes too long to take his shot as De Gea makes a commanding save after cutting down the striker's angle. The Hammers can't afford to waste chances like that.

19th min: Red Devils dominating possession here with West Ham not pressing too hard. Garnacho has been United's best outlet so far and the Hammers can't afford to give him too much space.

12th min: Some neat play in midfield from Sabitzer and McTominay sees Garnacho picked out in space on the left. The youngster cuts it in and fires off a shot that requires a strong stop from Areola. United nearly put home the rebound but Weghorst, who put his shot wide anyhow, was offside.

7th min: Antony this time tries his luck from distance but his shot goes well over the crossbar. Both teams look hungry in attack - hopefully that translates to a few goals.

6th min: CLOSE! Sabitzer forces a fine save out of Areola after being teed up at the top of the box by Weghorst. That was a very slick team move by United.

5th min: Antonio charges at Maguire on the counter and looks to spring past him but the centre-back manages to defuse the danger.

1st min: West Ham whip in a cross inside the first 30 seconds but Lindelof is on hand in the area to head clear.

Kickoff: We are underway at Old Trafford. Will the Red Devils continue their fine run of form or can the Hammers bring them back down to earth? We're about to find out.

2 mins from kickoff: Harry Maguire notably wearing the captain's armband tonight for United. The defender only played a few minutes in the Carabao Cup final but is determined to fight for his place at Old Trafford

5 mins from kickoff: This match will be an almighty test for Moyes' West Ham. They looked to turn a corner last time out against Nottingham Forest but this Red Devils team is more than capable of handing them a reality check. The Hammers have won the FA Cup three times before with their last triumph dating back to 1980.

15 mins from kickoff: Casemiro is on the bench tonight but Man United will be hoping he can produce another stunner like this if he is brought on.

1 hr from kickoff: Erik ten Hag has made six changes to the lineup from last Sunday's Carabao Cup final. Club captain Harry Maguire partners Victor Lindelof in central defence, with Scott McTominay and Marcel Sabitzer in midfield. Marcus Rashford starts on the bench, with Alejandro Garnacho given a chance to impress from the off.

David Moyes has named a strong side against his old club. While Lukasz Fabianski and Vladimir Coufal miss out due to injury, with Danny Ings also cup-tied, this is a strong lineup for the visitors.

90 mins from kickoff: The Red Devils have got that winning feeling again and Ten Hag is hoping he's assembled a team capable of winning plenty more over the coming months and years.

2 hrs from kickoff: Hello and welcome to The Sporting News' live coverage of Manchester United and West Ham in FA Cup action. The first batch of Round of 16 fixtures on Tuesday saw Manchester City, Fulham and Brighton progress, while Leicester City were knocked out by Championship side Blackburn.
