Already with six losses across all competitions this season, Manchester United take the field hoping to spark a turnaround as they host Brentford at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils have been decimated by injuries this season, but the remaining squad should still be good enough to pick up results at a more frequent rate. Erik ten Hag, who steered United to a Champions League berth last season, has come under fire for the poor start to the campaign.

It's not exactly been rainbows and roses for Brentford this year either, who sit 14th in the Premier League table with just one win thus far, coming against Fulham back in mid-August.

The Bees haven't been able to put solid defensive performances together with positive attacking displays, and without Ivan Toney, the forward unit has been poor in front of goal.

Man United vs Brentford prediction, odds

  • Moneyline lean: Draw (+310)
  • Score prediction: Man United 1-1 Brentford

This match against two struggling sides has the potential to end up a slogfest, and in that scenario, points have a propensity to be shared.

Manchester United are difficult to trust at this stage in the season, and oddly, they haven't drawn a single Premier League match yet through seven games. With such an anomaly, it's likely they end up finishing a few games level in the coming weeks, much to the disappointment of fans.

Man United vs Brentford: best bet

    • Pick: Under 2.5 goals
    • Odds: +115 (BetMGM)

These two sides have both been poor in front of net this season. Without Ivan Toney, Brentford's only goal threat has been Bryan Mbeumo, but outside of his presence, this Bees attack presents little danger.

Manchester United have been similarly poor finishing chances, putting up 11.53 xG this season, good for 12th in the league, and scoring just seven goals off those opportunities.

While the Red Devils have proven leaky at the back on occasions, they should manage to lock down a regressing Brentford side. However, scoring goals will be the tough part.

Man United vs Brentford prop bet

    • Pick: Casemiro to be shown a card
    • Odds: +200 (FanDuel)

After managing to escape the first six matches of the Premier League season without a single booking, Casemiro was finally shown a yellow card against Crystal Palace last time out. In a season where yellow cards are flying around at record rates, it's a wonder he managed to hold out that long.

The Brazilian has struggled with discipline since joining Manchester United, and with yellow card machine Andy Madley (averaging 6.60 cards per game, 2nd amongst Premier League officials) at the helm, this seems a very likely outcome.
