Manchester City became the first time in history to win four consecutive Premier League titles as they overcame West Ham United 3-1 on the final day of the 2023/24 season.

Doing so saw them take their unbeaten run to 35 games in all competitions as they stormed to a sixth title in seven seasons.

While the Gunners took the race to the final day, they left themselves relying on a Hammers side that had nothing to play for.

Here, The Sporting News breaks down Man City's run to the title and how they made it four consecutive league wins.

Pep Guardiola's spent numerous weeks and months off the top of the table but they once again proved their incredible mentality to come strong in the final months of the year to snatch the title.

In 2023/24 it was once again Arsenal who were the victims as they fell short on the final day of the season.

MORE: How City beat West Ham on final day to win title

Sporting News' Man City predictions for run-in 2023/24: How many did we get right?

Man City had a handful of difficult matches remaining in the Premier League title race in 2023/24, but came out on top with nine wins in a row, after a point against Arsenal, to lift the title.

Arsenal (H): March 31

This was perhaps City's biggest remaining test on paper: Arsenal have been in tremendous form in 2024, and a repeat of their 4-1 thrashing at a similar stage of last season always felt highly unlikely. City dominated possession but there were very few chances to speak of throughout a game that was hardly a classic.

Result last season: Man City 4-1 Arsenal
Prediction this season: Man City 2-2 Arsenal
Final score: Man City 0-0 Arsenal

Aston Villa (H): April 3

Villa are flying high this season and produced a superb performance to beat City in the reverse fixture. Guardiola responded by picking a nimble ball-playing team, resting Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne on the bench. In their absence, Phil Foden took centre stage with a magnificent hat-trick. Rodri opened the scoring before Jhon Duran levelled for Villa midway through the first half.

Result last season: Man City 3-1 Aston Villa
Prediction this season: Man City 3-1 Aston Villa
Final score: Man City 4-1 Aston Villa

Crystal Palace (A): April 6

A slightly worrying start for City saw them fall behind but De Bruyne's magical first goal kickstarted their comeback. Rico Lewis scored seconds into the second half to take the lead before De Bruyne teed up Haaland for his 30th of the season. The Belgian then bagged his 100th goal for the club as City took all three points.

Result last season: Crystal Palace 0-1 Man City
Prediction this season: Crystal Palace 0-2 Man City
Final score: Crystal Palace 2-4

Luton Town (H): April 13

Luton have given some of the big boys a real scare at Kenilworth Road this season, but away games are a different proposition. It was always hard to see them keeping City at bay and that proved to be the case as City went ahead within two minutes through a Daiki Hashikoa own goal, and it was all one-way traffic from there.

Result last season: N/A
Prediction this season: Man City 3-0 Luton Town
Final score: Man City 5-1 Luton Town

Brighton (A): April 25

Brighton have found it difficult to balance league and European commitments at times this season and there is a concern their campaign is beginning to fizzle out. City were utterly ruthless in getting the job done, as two goals from Phil Foden I’d posted them to a 4-0 win

Result last season: Brighton 1-1 Man City
Prediction this season: Brighton 1-3 Man City
Final score: Brighton 0-4 Man City

Nottingham Forest (A): April 28

Forest held City to a draw here last season and almost did the same to Liverpool in early 2024, and they gave the champions a real scare in the first half of this game. Indeed, had Chris Wood had his shooting boots on, they could have taken at least a point. However, Josko Gvardiol's goal put City in front in the first half before substitute Erling Haaland made the win safe.

Result last season: Nottingham Forest 1-1 Man City
Prediction this season: Nottingham Forest 0-3 Man City
Final score: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Man City

Wolves (H): May 4

Wolves have had an excellent season under Gary O'Neil and, as they showed in a 2-1 victory over the champions at Molineux in September. However, they were overwhelmed at the Etihad, as Erling Haaland bettered his hat-trick in last season's corresponding fixture with a four-goal haul.

Result last season: Man City 3-0 Wolves
Prediction this season: Man City 2-1 Wolves
Final score: Man City 5-1 Wolves

Fulham (A): May 11

City were narrow winners here last season, but this was a far more one-sided contest. Josko Gvardiol scored twice in a game in which Fulham barely threatened Ederson in the visiting goal.

Result last season: Fulham 1-2 Man City
Prediction this season: Fulham 1-3 Man City
Final score: Fulham 0-4 Man City

Tottenham (A): May 14

This was probably the last game carrying genuine trepidation for City. They have a lousy record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, their FA Cup victory there earlier this season-ending a run of five consecutive losses without even scoring a goal. After a 3-3 draw at the Etihad in the reverse game, nerves were shredded in this one until Haaland scored his second of the game from the penalty spot in stoppage time.

Result last season: Tottenham 1-0 Man City
Prediction this season: Tottenham 2-2 Man City
Final score: Tottenham 0-2 Man City

West Ham (H): May 19

Phil Foden’s early brace propelled Man City towards a fourth consecutive Premier League title before a second-half strike from Rodri capped a swaggering 3-1 victory for the serial champions.

No team in English football history, from the great Liverpool teams of the 1970s and 1980s to Sir Alex Ferguson's era-defining Manchester United, had ever won four championships in a row.

Result last season: Man City 3-0 West Ham
Prediction this season: Man City 4-1 West Ham
Final score: Man City 3-1 West Ham
