Riyad Mahrez waited until his fourth Champions League game for Manchester City before registering his first goal for the Citizen.
The Algeria international contributed two assists and his side’s fifth goal as Pep Guardiola’s men demolished the Ukrainian side that came into the game with the aspiration of avenging their 3-0 defeat in the first leg.

Mahrez fired past Andriy Pyatov from an acute angle in the 84th minute after controlling Ilkay Guendogan’s aerial ball.

The strike added more glooms to Shakhtar after goals from David Silva, Raheem Sterling and a brace from Gabriel Jesus had given the hosts a four-goal lead. However, Jesus completed the obliteration with his hat-trick in the 90th minute.
Before his effort, he had assisted Silva for the first goal of the game before helping Jesus earn his treble.
The former Leicester City man was featuring in his fourth Champions League match for the Manchester-based outfit after appearing against Olympique Lyonnais, Hoffenheim and Shakhtar in Kharkiv.
Mahrez has now scored five goals in the European competition and six goals for Guardiola’s side this term.
He would be hoping to increase his tally when Manchester City host Manchester United in a local derby on Sunday.
