This weekend could prove crucial in the Premier League title race as league leaders Arsenal take a trip to Liverpool on April 9.

The Gunners have not won away at Liverpool since 2012, and Mikel Arteta will need to break that hex, if he wants to ensure Manchester City do not gain more ground on his title challengers.

Liverpool's own mixed recent form will give Arteta confidence of picking up a positive result on Merseyside but the Spanish coach knows the battle with City could go right until the end of the season.

Arsenal still have to face City before the end of the campaign as the title pressure continues to rise on Arteta and his players.

Liverpool vs Arsenal lineups

Klopp is boosted by two key injury returns, with Virgil van Dijk and Thiago Alcantara both coming through training unscathed. The former starts this match, while the latter is on the bench.

Arteta cryptically hinted that one of his injured stars could be fit in time to return, but none of Takehiro TomiyasuWilliam Saliba or Eddie Nketiah make the squad. Bukayo Saka does start, though.

Below are the confirmed starting lineups for both teams ahead of their match at Anfield on April 9.

Klopp heavily rotated his side for the 0-0 midweek Premier League draw with Chelsea. As expected, he recalled Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo for this game

Thiago was only named a substitute, with Curtis Jones keeping his place in midfield, but Van Dijk starts over Joel Matip in central defence.

Arsenal starting 11

Arsenal starting XI (4-3-3): Ramsdale (GK) — White, Holding, Gabriel, Zinchenko — Odegaard, Partey, Xhaka — Saka, Jesus, Martinelli

Arteta will be looking to keep his team as settled as possible in the final weeks of the campaign, with Rob Holding filling in for Saliba in defence, and Gabriel Jesus back fit to lead the attack.
