Arsenal welcome Newcastle United to Emirates Stadium in the late kickoff on Saturday in the Premier League.

The Gunners return to domestic action after they were defeated in the stoppage time against Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.

Eddie Howe's Magpies have had a rocky start to 2024 defensively and are yet to record a clean sheet in the new year.

The Sporting News takes a look at injury news for the two sides ahead of the match and who could be selected in the starting XIs.

Arteta did not confirm any new injuries following the defeat in Portugal but full-back pair Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu remain sidelined.

The key focus will be on Gabriel Jesus' potential return, with the Brazilian international missing the last four matches with a knee injury. Both Jesus and Thomas Partey are pushing to return.

“We have another session today and obviously [Partey] has been out for many, many months now and we need to really nail the timing and when he has enough in the tank to compete, but I think he’s very close," Arteta said at his Friday press conference. “It’s the same with Gabby [Jesus] as well, he's done a few things."

Arsenal predicted (4-3-3, right to left): Raya (GK) — White, Saliba, Gabriel, Kiwior — Odegaard, Rice, Havertz — Saka, Jesus, Martinelli.

Arsenal subs (9): TBC

Eddie Howe is still missing a host of first-team stars but he will make late calls on the fitness of Joe Willock and Alexander Isak.

Newcastle predicted (4-3-3 right to left): Dubravka (GK) — Trippier, Schar, Botman, Burn — Longstaff, Guimaraes, Miley — Almiron, Isak, Gordon.
