Alphonso Davies and Bayern Munich continue their drive for back-to-back UEFA Champions League titles with a first-ever meeting against Lazio in the Round of 16.
Bayern easily advanced to the knockout stage with five wins, one draw and an impressive plus-13 goal differential in the group stage. However, that wrapped up back in early December when the German club was rolling. While they did win the Club World Cup recently, Davies and Co. enter Tuesday's meeting coming off a draw with Arminia (now in 16th place) and a loss to Eintracht Frankfurt (fourth) in Bundesliga action. They're still atop the table for Germany's top league but it's now only a two-point gap between them and RB Leipzig.
Bayern does have a 17-game unbeaten streak in Champions League play to build off of, and they have Davies back to full strength after missing time with an ankle injury in October and November. The Canadian potted the equalizer against Arminia on Feb. 16 for his first of the season.

As for the Italian club, Lazio is back in the knockout round for the first time in 21 years. They're on a bit of a tear lately having won three of their last four in Serie A action, with the only loss against table-setter Inter Milan. The Italians, who reached the knockout stage finishing one point behind Borussia Dortmund in Group F, should be a tough test for the Germans. And between the posts will be a familiar face, as former Bayern goalkeeper Pepe Reina (who has also suited up for Barcelona, Liverpool and Napoli) is expected to start.
