Harambee Stars started their campaign to reclaim 2017 Cecafa Senior Challenge campaign by downing Rwanda 2-0 in their opening encounter, before being held to a barren draw by Libya.

As for Zanzibar, it is high time other teams took them seriously for they have proved to be serious contenders for the regional trophy. After hammering Rwanda 3-1, the Islanders came from a goal down to win 2-1 against ‘brothers’ Tanzania.

Kenya comes into the match as favourites despite lying second in Group A, which is led by Zanzibar on six points. The last time the two teams faced each other was way back in November 2015 where Kenya, then coached by Bobby Williamson, lost 3-1.

It is going to be an 18th meeting between the two sides in Cecafa, with Kenya having won twelve of those matches, drawn twice and lost three times.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Kenya: Harambee Stars captain Musa Mohammed is aware of the threat posed by the opponents, and he cannot afford to let them into the danger zone. The Islanders are also good in the midfield and Duncan Otieno, Patillah Omotto and Whyvonne Isuza should up their game in that position.

Zanzibar: Goalkeeper Mohammed Abraham pulled some fine saves for his side against Tanzania, but made a number of mistakes that went unpunished. He cannot afford that against Kenya. Suleiman 'Seleembe' Salim changed the match for the Islanders after his cameo against Tanzania; he is a quick player, who should be checked all the time.

PROBABLE LINE-UPS: Kenya: Patrick Matasi, Dennis Sikhayi, Wesley Onguso, Musa Mohammed, Jockins Atudo, Duncan Otieno, Patillah Omotto, Whyvonne Isuza, George Odhiambo, Masoud Juma and Samuel Onyango.

Zanzibar: Mohamed Abrahman, Ibrahim Mohamed, Haji Mwinyi Ngwali, Abdulla Kheri, Issa Haidar Dau, Abdul Azizi Makame, Mohamed Issa, Mudathir Yahya, Ibrahim Hamad Hilika, Feisal Salum and Hamad Mshamata.
