The past six days haven't been kind to Canadian soccer.

On Monday, the women's team was eliminated from the World Cup by Sweden; on Saturday, the men's national team exited the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup via a 3-2 loss to Haiti in which it surrendered three goals in the second half after taking a 2-0 lead into halftime.

Coming off a 7-0 thrashing of Cuba to finish the group stage, the Canadians looked strong early and scored twice in the first 28 minutes. Jonathan David made it 1-0 in the 18th minute and Lucas Cavallini followed 10 minutes later.

Despite finishing the match with 36 percent possession, Haiti made the most of its time on offense and took four corner kicks while only conceding two. Duckens Nazon put Haiti on the board five minutes into the second half, and a foul in the area against Marcus Godinho resulted in a game-tying Hervé Bazile penalty kick in the 70th minute. Wilde-Donald Guerrier gave the Haitians the lead in the 76th minute off a pretty pass from Nazon.

Haiti outshot Canada 16-12 and landed more shots on target, 5-4.

The win earned Haiti a semifinal matchup on July 2 against Mexico.
