Ghana midfielder Albert Adomah has received praise from former Aston Villa captain of Ghanaian descent George Boateng.

The 29-year-old has stepped up his game since Jonathan Kodija got injured a couple of weeks ago, scoring five times to help Steve Bruce's side pick victories in their last three games in the Championship.

Boateng, who played for Villa between 1999 and 2002, believes the club stand the chance of claiming the second automatic slot to return to the Premier League next season.

“I think Steve Bruce is doing a good job there. He is the right guy at the right club at the moment for us,” Boateng told Skysports.

“Even though, John Terry got injured - that was a big blow for him but Albert Adomah is in the form of his life, scoring goal after goal and at the moment he is so important this season.

"If we want to get up this season -either through the play-offs or automatic promotion, then probably the second place will be cool as I think that Wolverhampton might be the one to get the first spot,” he added.

Adomah has hit 11 goals in total this season after 14 games and, Goal understands that Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will be in UK next month to monitor his progress as he prepares his squad for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
