Ghanaian midfielder of English descent Joe Dodoo was not registered by Scottish giants Rangers FC for the preliminary stage of the upcoming Uefa Europa League.

The 21-year-old was surprisingly not named in Pedro Caixinha's 30-man squad that will face Luxembourg side Progres Niederkorn FC despite his incredible performance last season, hitting five goals including a brace against Aberdeen.

Aside Dodoo, Rob Kiernan, Andy Halliday, Harry Forrester, Michael O'Halloran and Matt Crooks, who spent last season at Scunthorpe, were all overlooked.

The youngster's snub has underlined rumours that he will leave the club next season since he is not assured of first team action.

Goal understands that Dodoo, who previously played for Leicester City, has been linked with a return to the Premier League.

Although, he earned a maiden call-up to represent Ghana on May 20, 2016 ahead of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mauritius, he is still eligible to play for England since he could not make an official appearance for the Black Stars.
