The 2022/23 Premier League season kicks off on Friday with Crystal Palace hosting Mikel Arteta's Arsenal at Selhurst Park in what promises to be an exciting and dramatic curtain-raiser.

Gabriel Jesus is expected to make his Premier League debut for the Gunners after making the £45m transfer from Manchester City to the Emirates Stadium this summer. The Brazilian has been in excellent form for his new team in pre-season, scoring seven times.

Arsenal only just missed out on finishing in the Premier League's top four last season and will be looking to take another step forward after a busy summer which also saw Oleksandr Zinchenko and Fabio Vieira sign for the club.

Crystal Palace come into the new season after finishing 12th in the Premier League table last term. Former Arsenal midfielder Patrick Vieira's team were praised for their style of play and have ambitions of reaching the top half this season.

Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal predicted lineups

Jack Butland misses the opening match of the 2022/23 season through injury with summer signing Sam Johnstone also on the sidelines. This means Vicente Guita starts as Palace's goalkeeper against Arsenal.

Michael Olise is also an injury absence for the Eagles with James McArthur unavailable. Cheick Doucoure has been favoured by Vieira at the base of the Palace midfield to prevent Arsenal from imposing themselves in the centre of the pitch.

Crystal Palace XI (4-3-3): Guaita (GK) — Mitchell, Guehi, Andersen, Clyne — Doucoure, Eze, Schlupp — Ayew, Zaha, Edouard

Jesus starts up front for Arsenal with support from Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka in the wide areas. Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu are injury absences and so Oleksandr Zinchenko and Ben White have been picked to play in the full back positions.

Fabio Vieira and Emile Smith Rowe have been omitted from the squad due to injury concerns with Arteta sticking with the tried and tested midfield trio of Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard.

Arsenal predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Ramsdale (GK) — Zinchenko, Gabriel, Saliba, White — Thomas, Xhaka — Martinelli, Odegaard, Saka — Jesus

Crystal Palace vs. Arsenal betting odds

Crystal Palace are underdogs against Arsenal as the 2022/23 Premier League season gets under way, but there could still be some value in backing the Eagles.

Vieira's team claimed a 3-0 win in their home league fixture against Arsenal last season and Palace have the quality to at least make life difficult for the Gunners.
