The UEFA Champions League is down to its final four: Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City and Paris St-Germain.
With the semifinal fixtures set, the final will see a club going for its first title against a team aiming to add to its trophy case. PSG, a finalist in 2020, and Manchester City are facing off in a battle of clubs without a UCL title. Man City, in fact, will be competing in just its second semifinal (it lost to Real Madrid in 2016). The other semi sees 13-time champion Real Madrid taking on 2012 champ Chelsea.
PSG advanced after sending defending champ Bayern Munich and Canadian superstar Alphonso Davies packing. Kylian Mbappe has been on fire, netting three goals against Barcelona in the Round of 16 and two against Bayern in the quarterfinals. The French side will face a stiff test against a Man City club that is unbeaten in UCL in 2020-21.
There were rumblings that the other semifinal, Chelsea vs. Real Madrid, would not happen because of the Spanish club's involvement in the now-defunct Super League, but it appears as if everything is a go.
"We have the right to play in the Champions League," said Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane.
"It's illogical and absurd [that we might be disqualified]. No, I don't have any worries [about the refereeing]. We'll play our semifinal, as is our right," Zidane added.
