Alphonso Davies has exceeded expectations at Bayern Munich after coming over from the Vancouver Whitecaps in an MLS record transfer fee.

On Monday, the Canadian international was rewarded as he signed a contract extension that will keep him with the European giant through 2025. After appearing in just six matches last season, Davies has become a regular starter appearing in 29 competitive matches with one goal and six assists in 2,246 minutes played.

Davies, 19, mostly plays as a fullback for Bayern, showcasing his speed on the wings in the attack and recovering back to defend. In his short stint, the Canadian teenager has developed an indelible mark in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

March 17, 2019: Davies scores first Bayern goal

In his fifth career league appearance, Davies came off the bench in the 59th minute as Bayern Munich led 5-0 vs. Mainz. Eleven minutes later, Davies pressed towards the box as forward Robert Lewandowski had a shot on goal saved. There to follow up the rebound was Davies for his first goal after joining the club in January.

Davies became the youngest player (18 years, 135 days) to score for Bayern Munich since Roque Santa Cruz (18 years, 12 days) in 1999.

Dec. 11, 2019: Davies picks up first career Champions League assist

The 2019-20 Champions League campaign was the first European competition of Davies' career. In Bayern Munich's final group stage game against Tottenham Hotspur, Davies had a shot go off the post that was tapped in by Thomas Muller.

In the 64th minute, Davies was on the edge of the box as two Tottenham defenders closed in. He sent a short pass to Philippe Coutinho who took two touches to his right and rifled a shot by the goalkeeper to cap off a 3-1 win.

Feb. 25, 2020: Davies' assist caps impressive Champions League win at Chelsea

Bayern Munich faced Chelsea in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16. It was the German club's second trip to London this season after they defeated the Spurs 7-2 in October.

Davies' pace was on full display at Stamford Bridge as he evaded two tackles and sent in a perfect cross to Lewandowski for a tap-in goal.

After the final whistle was blown, the Bayern traveling supporters were chanting the Canadian's name as he left the pitch.
