Alphonso Davies and Bayern Munich look to wrap up their UEFA Champions League Round of 16 tie with Lazio on Wednesday. They host the Serie A club with a 4-1 aggregate lead. Robert Lewandowski, Jamal Musiala and Leroy Sané scored for Bayern, which also benefited from a Francesco Acerbi own goal before Joaquin Correa notched one for the home team.
Lewandowski's goal was the 72nd of his career in UCL competition. He is now in sole possession of third place on the all-time scorers list (excluding qualifying). Ahead of him lies Lionel Messi (120) and Cristiano Ronaldo (134). He is three away from tying Karim Benzema (57, Real Madrid) on the all-time goals for one club UEFA Champions League list (excluding qualifying).
Bayern easily advanced to the knockout stage with five wins, one draw and an impressive plus-13 goal differential in the group stage. If the defending champs advance to quarterfinals, it would mark the ninth time in the last 10 seasons — the lone year was 2018-19 when the club lost in this round to eventual champ Liverpool. The club does have an 18-game unbeaten streak in Champions League play to build off of, and they have Davies back to full strength after missing time with an ankle injury in October and November.
