Barcelona received worrying news on Saturday as it emerged one of their international stars must undergo tests on an injury.
Hansi Flick has enjoyed a strong start to life as head coach of the Blaugrana, with four wins from his first four La Liga games in charge in 2024/25. The 7-0 thrashing of Real Valladolid prior to the international break was a particular high point.
Clubs are always concerned about the risk of injury when they release players to represent their country, not least when the FIFA fixture window comes this early in a new season.
Now, it seems one of Flick's most important recent additions will need medical examinations to determine the severity of an issue sustained this week.

Dani Olmo, who signed for Barca from RB Leipzig during the recent transfer window, sustained an impact injury during Spain's UEFA Nations League draw with Serbia this week.
La Roja head coach Luis de la Fuente described it as a "heavy blow" and the midfielder sat out part of his national team's latest training sessions ahead of Sunday's match with Switzerland.
"We don't know how he'll feel between now and tomorrow," De la Fuente said on Saturday. "We have two wonderful forwards in Ayoze [Perez] and Joselu, and we know they can be relied upon to deliver what we're going to ask of them."
Olmo scored his first goal for Barca since his return to the club from Leipzig in that thrashing of Valladolid. The hope is that he could be fit for their next league game, which is a Catalan derby against Girona on September 15.
