Barcelona have opened talks with Corinthians midfielder Pedrinho, Goal understands.

The Primera Division leaders are already plotting their next move in the transfer market, and Latin American specialist Andre Cury has met with the Corinthians board to find out the status of the 20-year-old.

Pedrinho debuted with Corinthians 18 months and has caught the eye of Cury, who is their specialist in the region.

However, they face a fight if they are to make a move for the player. Both Paris Saint-Germain and Shakhtar Donetsk have been credited with an interest in him, with the Brazilian side set to put a price tag of €25 million (£22m/$29m) on their player.

Predominantly a right winger, Pedrinho can play in a number of offensive midfield roles and has been a regular at club level this season, amassing 28 appearances overall, including six in the Copa Libertadores.

During these games, he has yet to score but has produced three assists.

The youngster, who has never featured for the national team at any age group, is under contract until 2020.

Should Barca make their move, it would continue a recent trend of the Camp Nou outfit signing Brazilian players, with Philippe Coutinho, Arthur and Malcom all arriving in Catalunya over the last 12 months.
