Mikel Arteta's Arsenal headed to Germany to begin their preseason preparations as they gear up for 2022/23.

After missing out on Champions League qualification again last campaign, the Gunners are determined to ensure that they are in the best possible shape for when the new season gets underway.

Arsenal started preseason by thrashing Ipswich Town 5-1 in a behind-closed-doors friendly at their training ground and continued their preparations by beating Nurnberg 5-3 in an exhibition match.

Arteta's men are now heading to the United States for games against Everton, Orlando City and Chelsea.

Here is how their preseason is shaping up and who is in their squad.

Arsenal preseason squad list 2022

Arteta has a good selection of players to work with during preseason.

New signing Gabriel Jesus, who recently joined from Manchester City, has linked up with the squad. Young winger Marquinhos is also involved following his arrival from Sao Paulo and goalkeeper Matt Turner has joined from New England Revolution.

Fabio Vieira, who signed from Porto, has also met his new teammates. The midfielder was pictured wearing a protective boot but assured fans that it is just a precaution.

There are a host of players who have returned from loan spells such as Hector Bellerin, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Pablo Mari and Reiss Nelson. Some of those players may not be at the club by the time the transfer window closes, but they all featured against Ipswich and could play some part in further preseason games.

Arsenal 5-1 Ipswich Town

The Gunners kicked off their preseason with a comfortable win at the Arsenal Training Centre on the back of an Eddie Nketiah hat-trick and goals by Albert Sambi Lokonga and Folarin Balogun. Lineups below courtesy of Arsenal.com:

Nurnberg 3-5 Arsenal

For the second game in a row Arsenal scored five goals as Gabriel Jesus netted just 90 seconds after coming on for his debut. Arsenal had been 2-0 down at half-time but the Brazilian came off the bench in the second half and bagged twice. Mohamed Elneny also found the net while two own goals also contributed to the win.

Everton 0-2 Arsenal

Optimism around the Gunners' progress continued in Baltimore as they eased to a 2-0 friendly win over Everton. Jesus was again the star, opening the scoring before setting up Bukayo Saka for the second in the space of three first-half minutes. There was a start for Matt Turner in goal and William Saliba impressed at the heart of defence.

Orlando City 1-3 Arsenal

Arsenal's solid preseason continued in Clash of Nations competition as goals from Martinelli, Nketiah and Reiss Nelson secured a 3-1 victory over Orlando City. The American hosts did head into the break all level after Facundo Torres cancelled out Martinelli's early strike though in the end, the former Premier League champions proved too strong for their counterparts.

Arsenal 4-0 Chelsea

An emphatic win over Premier League rivals Chelsea earned Arsenal the Florida Cup title and ended their US tour in impressive style.

In the third and final game of the tour, Jesus scored his fourth goal of pre-season to put Arsenal ahead after 15 minutes.

Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka then netted either side of the interval before Sambi Lokonga added a late fourth.

Oleksandr Zinchenko made his Arsenal debut a day after completing his transfer from Manchester City.

"He was desperate to play and I knew that," said Arteta. "It was a maximum 45 minutes but you could see straight away he was comfortable.

"As you could see, there are a lot of positives to take from the game: the way we played, the intensity we showed, the way we were trying to show who we are as a team."

Arsenal 1-2 Brentford

An understrength Arsenal suffered their first loss of preseason against Brentford on July 27. 

The Bees opened the scoring early via Bryan Mbeumo before Eddie Nketiah equalised for the Gunners with his fifth goal of preseason. 

Ryan Trevitt then scored the winner just before the break as Brentford managed to hold off late pressure from Arsenal.

Arsenal 6-0 Sevilla

The Gunners wrapped up preseason in style with a 6-0 win over La Liga side Sevilla. New signing Gabriel Jesus scored a hat-trick for Arsenal, while Bukayo Saka also bagged a brace.
