Alexandre Lacazette concedes Arsenal are short of confidence in the wake of a recent 2-0 loss to Leicester City.

The Gunners have now failed to win their past five games in all competitions and sit sixth in the Premier League - eight points shy of the top four.

With pressure mounting on manager Unai Emery, Lacazette is hopeful the club can use the next fortnight to regroup and return with heads held high.

“We miss confidence and we need the international break," Lacazette said. "I hope we are going to come back well. We need to work more than we do now to find confidence.

“We are very disappointed, we had chances in the first half [against Leicester]. We couldn’t score and you need to take your chances in this type of game.

“We have to work again and keep working everyday. But I think we didn’t play so bad, we just missed our chances in the first half.”

Lacazette has scored just twice this season for the Gunners and hasn't been included in France's squad for upcoming games against Moldova and Albania.

While both club and player are short of form, Lacazette remains hopeful Arsenal can secure a spot in the top four by season's end.

“We want to be top four of course," he said. "Now we are nine points behind Chelsea and Leicester and it is going to be hard but everything is possible in football.

“We still have time until the end of the season. We are going to work to come back.”

Following the international break, Arsenal host Southampton and face a run of relatively kind league fixtures including clashes against last-placed Norwich, Brighton and West Ham.

While the mood around the Emirates is becoming somewhat toxic, defender Calum Chambers has called on the club to keep pushing forward

“I think now it is important for us to keep positive, keep believing, keep working hard and we now have a bit of time to get together and work hard on the training ground and it’s important for us to do that," Chambers said.

“I think we have to keep believing until the very end and things can change very quickly in football matches so it’s important during a game that if you go behind, you have to keep believing, keep playing and doing the things that we’ve been told to do and keep believing in the philosophy that we’re doing.

“There is a good spirit in the dressing room, all the lads are together and we need to keep going, fighting and giving it all our all in every game and things will change. With the squad we’ve got and the amount of quality we have, we can turn things around."
