Kawhi Leonard may very well find his way to L.A. to play for the Lakers after all.
ESPN is reporting that the Lakers and Spurs have re-ignited their trade conversation around the Spurs' superstar.
The Spurs had originally made life hard for the Lakers to try and acquire Lenoard, thinking that they could repair their relationship with the disgruntled star but an "overwhelming" offer could convince them to send him to his native Los Angeles.
Many believe that if the Lakers could pick up Leonard via trade, it may be enough to convince LeBron James to join the purple and gold. James has a Friday night deadline to opt-in the final year of his contract with the defending Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers.
Los Angeles is said to be using the Paul George to Oklahoma City and Kyrie Irving to Boston trades as models for a Leonard transaction, but the Spurs who would have to see Leonard and potentially James in their own conference may want more of a haul.
Earlier in the day, ESPN reported that the Celtics, 76ers and Clippers were among the teams who have made offers to the Spurs for Leonard. The Cavaliers who are likely to be deep into the luxury tax have also reportedly expressed interest in Leonard, but they may not have the assets to pull off the heist.
Leonard, 26, appeared in just nine games after dealing with a quad injury averaged 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game in 2017-18.
