It truly is not the best of times to be a fan of A.S. Roma as the club is in a constate state of turmoil. In all honesty, managing the capital club has never been an easy task especially when the club's set of supporters have never been one to shy away from voicing displeasure.
But for anyone in charge of the Giallorossi as current coach Eusebio Di Francesco would find out, it is not really the fans who are chief to his headache but it is actually those people in suits and tie: people who run the club, that is central to his woes. Last season saw Roma finish third in Italy but it was the Champions League where serious headway was made by the club, as they overcame Barcelona to qualify for the semi-finals for the first time in the Champions League era.

Now after witnessing such progress, the rational thing to do would be to keep the core of that squad and probably invest in it which will allow Roma to grow, however, the powers above Di Francesco decided otherwise. What followed soon after, was the offloading of key players and long story short, the spine of the team had been badly damaged. Fast forward to today and it can be said that it is because of such unwise actions by those running the club, that Roma is in serious danger of missing out on Champions League football as they sit in eighth position in the league.
It's clear that Roma's replacements for the key players that left over the summer have failed to deliver. In seven Serie A matches since the October international break, Roma has four draws, two losses and just one win. This is simply not good enough for a club that wishes to compete with Italy's premier side Juventus. In order for the club to move forward, it must seriously start to internalise the issues that surround it. It can first start by re-evaluating its policies which are to decide whether it wants to be a selling club or a team that is driven by fierce ambition to compete for trophies.
Reports around Italy surfaced this week with former club captain Francesco Totti starting talks with Antonio Conte as they search for a replacement for the embattled coach Di Francesco. In actual fact, Totti must realise it is actually not the former Sassuolo coach who needs replacing but those above him. In direct terms, it may be time for a significant change within Roma's corridors of power.
