Kenny Miller's first-half strike was enough for the Scottish Premiership giants to secure victory at Ibrox in the first leg and Pedro Caixinha will be keen for his side to finish the job in Luxembourg.

A clash against either Cypriot outfit AEL Limassol or Gibraltar's St Joseph's awaits the winner in the second qualifying round.

AEL boast a 4-0 victory from the first leg, meaning a trip the the eastern Mediterranean is the likely destination.

Caixinha handed debuts to five players in the first leg, with Portuguese trio Dalcio, Fabio Cardoso and Daniel Candeias getting their Rangers careers under way, alongside Ryan Jack and Colombia youth international Alfredo Morelos.

Eduardo Herrera and Carlos Pena missed last Thursday's game, but the pair have been included in the squad and could be set to follow their fellow new signings by making their bow for the club against Paolo Amodio's men.

However, former Zenit and Porto defender Bruno Alves will not play a part for the Gers, having just participated in Portugal's Confederations Cup campaign in Russia.

Progres are likely to go with the same team that frustrated Rangers at Ibrox as they aim to cause an unlikely upset.

In the absence of last season's top scorer Remi Laurent, the home side will look to maximise the talents of Armenia international Alexandre Karapetian in on the counter attack.

The Luxembourg outfit also count ex-RB Leipzig midfielder Maximilian Watzka and former Metz man Mario Mutsch among their ranks, though the latter is currently injured.

Rangers' return to European football was played out in front of a packed Ibrox Stadium last week, but Light Blues supporters were left somewhat underwhelmed as their team struggled to score.

Boss Pedro Caixinha was similarly frustrated by his team's lack of clinical edge in front of goal and he is in no doubt about the manner in which he wants his players to approach the second leg.

"I think the team had more than enough to maybe to score more goals," Caixinha told Rangers TV after the first leg.

"We know that we are winning one-nil, this is just the half time, nothing is done, and we need to go to Luxembourg next Tuesday with the will and the desire on our mind that we need to do everything and win the game. That is all that matters."

No one in the world like €80m Keita

With his team at the early stage of the season and new signings continuing to gel, the Portuguese will be confident of an improved display away from home as they look to mount a solid continental campaign.

Meanwhile, despite losing the first leg, Progres boss Paolo Amodio was quietly content with the result and insisted that the Scottish club will be concerned they did not score more goals. The former Luxembourg international stressed that "anything could happen" when the teams face off at the Stade Josy Barthel.

"I think all the pressure is on Rangers to make sure they go through," Amodio said after the first leg at Ibrox.

"They probably expected to win tonight by five or six goals and it's not the case, so anything could happen next week."
