Which Liverpool players were nominated for the Ballon d'Or? Salah, Van Dijk miss out image

The 2023/24 season was an emotional one at Anfield as Jurgen Klopp called time on nine incredible seasons as Liverpool manager.

Klopp's side won the Carabao Cup in extra time against Chelsea and entered the final months of the season in contention across four competitions.

But Manchester City and Arsenal pulled clear in the Premier League, while losing to eventual winners Manchester United and Atalanta in the FA Cup and Europa League was scant consolation.

It was an experience of fine margins for Liverpool and their outgoing boss. What did it mean for a team of elite players when it came to pouching nominations for the 2024 Ballon d'Or

Which Liverpool players were nominated for the Ballon d'Or 2024?

No Liverpool players featured on the 30-player Ballon d'Or shortlist.

Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk are perhaps unfortunate following fine individual seasons, while an unusual Euro 2024 experience cast an unhelpful shadow over Trent Alexander-Arnold's fabulous talents.

Alisson was also absent from the Yachin Trophy shortlist, although Giorgi Mamardashvili did make the cut. The Valencia goalkeeper will move to Anfield before the 2025/26 season.
