Ugarte spoke passionately about the allure of Manchester United, describing the club as "one of the best teams in the world."
He revealed that the history and legendary status of the club played a significant role in his decision. "This club, this stadium… legendary," Ugarte said, expressing his admiration for United's rich heritage and global reputation.

The dream of wearing United's legendary colors
Before finalizing his move, Ugarte sought advice from his fellow Uruguayan, Facundo Pellistri, who had only recently left the club. Pellistri's insights into the electrifying atmosphere at Old Trafford and the passionate support of the fans further fueled Ugarte’s desire to join. "The matchday atmosphere at Old Trafford is incredible," Ugarte shared, eager to experience it firsthand.
In addition to Pellistri, Ugarte also consulted with current United stars Bruno Fernandes and Lisandro Martinez.
Their positive feedback about the club and the team's ambitions convinced him that Manchester United was the right place to continue his career. "I’ve spoken with Bruno and Licha... I'm really thrilled and eager," Ugarte added, highlighting his excitement about the new challenge.
Ugarte’s first taste of Old Trafford came during the recent match against Liverpool, where he was introduced to the fans.
Despite the result not going United's way, the experience left a lasting impression on the midfielder. "I’ve never seen anything like it before, these United fans," he said, marvelling at the support he has received since his signing was announced.
As Ugarte prepares to represent Uruguay during the international break, he carries with him the excitement and responsibility of playing for one of the world’s most iconic clubs. His goal is clear: to help Manchester United return to its trophy-winning ways and make the fans proud.
