Liverpool have enjoyed a superb start to life under Arne Slot but the Reds boss is rumoured to be considering a bold move to bolster his attack in 2025.
With uncertainty over Mohamed Salah's future at Anfield, Slot will be forced to wait and see if the Egypt international signs a contract extension, alongside renewal talks for Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk.
The Dutch boss is keen to keep as much of the situation within his control as possible and he is looking for more firepower in his attack.
Sweden star Viktor Gyokeres has flashed back onto the transfer agenda for multiple Premier League teams as he continues to smash in goals for Sporting Lisbon.

An incredible 43 goals in his debut 2023/24 campaign underlined Gyokeres' status as one of Europe's deadliest finishers, and he has hit the ground running in 2024/25, with 11 goals from eight games.
As per reports from Teamtalk.com, Liverpool are ready to battle Arsenal and Tottenham for the 26 year-old, with Chelsea unlikely to make a move.
Slot's interest is likely to hinge on how Darwin Nunez performs in the coming months with the Uruguayan yet to convince his new boss.
Darwin Nunez Liverpool stats, contract
Nunez remains a divisive figure for Liverpool fans, with his all-action style winning plenty of support, but his finishing remains a concern.
20 EPL goals across his first two full seasons on Merseyside is below the level Slot expects, and despite spectacularly opening his account for the season in the 3-0 home win over Bournemouth last weekend, he is not first choice for Slot.
Salah, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz are Slot's go-to attack, with Cody Gakpo arguably ahead of Nunez, and the former Benfica man has work to do to win over Slot.
His current contract runs until 2028, and Liverpool will not actively look to sell him, unless transfer funds are needed to push for Gyokeres or other targets.
Viktor Gyokeres contract, release clause, stats
Liverpool and their rivals are still assessing options, with Gyokeres' release clause in Lisbon set at €100m ($111m), as part of a contract until 2028 in the Portuguese capital.
Gyokeres' stats for Sporting Lisbon are even more impressive based on Brighton & Hove Albion's decision that he was not good enough for the Premier League back in 2021.
After four seasons, and no EPL games for the Seagulls, Gyokeres was sold to EFL Championship side Coventry City, where he scored 38 league goals in two seasons from 2021 to 2023.
