Tottenham fans endured a frustrating weekend as they suffered a 1-0 Premier League derby defeat at home to rivals Arsenal.

The Gunners secured a third successive EPL win away at Spurs as Gabriel Magalhaes' second-half header sealed all three points for Mikel Arteta.

However, despite the disappointment of another loss to Arsenal, there was a small derby 'win' for Spurs before a ball was kicked at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Both sets of fans are always keen to gain an edge on each other and former Spurs striker Troy Parrott did just that with four goals for Dutch side AZ Alkmaar.

The Republic of Ireland international left Tottenham permanently this summer, after a loan spell in the Netherlands at Excelsior, and he bagged a first career quadruple against Heerenveen.

Spurs fans keeping an eye on Parrott's progress will be delighted to see the result came in a recording breaking 9-1 victory against a team managed by former Arsenal star Robin van Persie.

Van Perise took charge at Heerenveen over the summer, but Parrott's incredible performance set an unwanted record, as the club's heaviest ever defeat, in just van Persie's fourth game in charge.

Parrott has hit the ground running in the Netherlands and the home fans serenaded him with 'Your defence it terrified, Parrott's on fire at full time'.

There is already a reunion for Parrott and Tottenham on the calendar in the coming months as Spurs face AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League's new league phase on October 24 in London.
