Despite struggling early in the match, Lawes came up with a huge steal in the fifth end for Canada, giving the team a 5-2 lead with a crucial two points.
The Norwegian team of Kristin Skaslien and Magnus Nedregotten made things interesting with a two-point end of its own in the sixth, setting the stage for a nervy finale.
Lawes wouldn't be denied a shot at the gold medal though, coming through in the clutch with a three for Canada in the seventh end to give the team an 8-4 lead and all but seal the win.
