The Seattle Seahawks seemed this week like they were finally getting the offensive line set for the first time all summer. But the news head coach Pete Carroll delivered Saturday is bound to shake things up.

Starting left tackle George Fant tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. The injury occurred on a routine play in the Seahawks preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings Friday night.

Ian Rapoport of NFL.com reports that Fant has “suffered a season ending knee injury.”

The revelation came a day after Carroll named the undrafted lineman a starter.

“I’m really, really brokenhearted,” Carroll told USA Today. “He’s done so much, come so far and everybody’s cheering for him and been rooting for him all along.”

Fant made his Seahawks debut in Week 2 of the 2016 season against the Miami Dolphins. He played the remaining 14 games plus two in the postseason before Seattle’s elimination.

The Seahawks have two games remaining on their preseason slate, and while Rees Odhiambo filled in for Fant, the time in between gives Carroll time to bolster an already depleted line.
