Tampa Bay Buccanners tight end Antony Auclair has started a trend amongst Canadians in the NFL.
Two days after Auclair sang O Canada on HBO’s Hard Knocks, Philadelphia Eagles tight end Adam Zaruba took the stage for a rendition of his own in front of his Eagles teammates, as spotted by 247Sports' Jeff Kerr.
“I decided to give Canada some love,” Zaruba told The Province.Rookie hazing by the #Eagles. Making Adam Zaruba (@thezoobs12) sing the Canadian National Anthem. Reaction priceless 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/Bv07XXuRBk

As part of an annual rookie ‘hazing’, Eagles rookies had to sing a song of choice, much like Auclair’s Buccanneers teammates did to him. However, Auclair’s performance was met with applause, Zaruba’s wasn’t.
Zaruba couldn’t get through the anthem before chants of ‘USA’ filled the room. Zaruba, while being drowned out by the chants, continued singing.
The North Vancouver native spent a few years with Canada’s rugby sevens team before signing his first NFL contract — a three-year deal — with the Eagles on July 24. On Thursday against the Buffalo Bills, Zaruba recorded his first NFL reception — a 10-yard play-action pass for a first down.
