Genie Bouchard’s run in the singles bracket at the Citi Open ended on Thursday afternoon.

Bouchard fell to Germany’s Andrea Petkovic 6-2, 4-6, 6-0, in Round Two at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center in Washington, D.C. 

Petkovic jumped out to an early lead on Bouchard, but the Canadian rallied with a second set victory to even the match. Petkovic then cruised passed Bouchard in the third set, sweeping all six games in route to victory. Petkovic saved 78 percent of her breakpoints and won 76 percent of her first serves in the match.

Bouchard and partner Sloane Stephens are set to face Nigina Abduraimova and Patricia Maria Țig in a doubles quarterfinal later today

Bouchard is currently 73rd in the WTA singles rankings. She will return to singles action at the Rogers Cup in Toronto, which begins Monday, August 7. Fellow Canadians Bianca Andreescu and Francoise Abanda will also be competing.
