Pickrem wins bronze on last day of world swimming championships image

Sydney Pickrem didn't finish her first race at the world swimming championships in Budapest because she ended up swallowing too much water and jumped out of the pool midway though the event. She made amends Sunday, coming in third place during the 400m individual medley.

The Clearwater swimmer turned in a 4:32.38 on a day when Canada's 4x100 medley relay team featuring Kylie Masse and Penny Oleksiak missed a medal with its fourth place finish. Pickrem trailed gold medalist Katinka Hosszu of Hungary, who touched in a time of 4:29.33 while Mireia Belmonte of Spain was second in a time of 4:32.17.
