Jennifer Abel entered the 2018 Commonwealth Games as the two-time reigning silver medallist in the women's 3m springboard, and she left as champion.
The 26-year-old from Montreal recorded a cumulative score of 366.95 over five dives on Saturday to finish in first, 0.4 points better than Maddison Keeney of Australia.
Abel stepped up to her final dive needing a 68.6 to claim her fourth career Commonwealth Game gold medal. The Canadian scored a 69.0 on her closer, a Back 2½ Somersaults dive.

Saturday's gold in the 3m springboard follows second-place finishes for Abel at the 2010 and 2014 Games. Along with partner Melissa Citrini-Beaulieu, Abel finished fifth in the women's synchronized 3m springboard event on Wednesday.
Abel is one of the most decorated divers in Canadian history, having claimed seven total Commonwealth Games medals, three Pan Am Games medals, seven FINA World Championships medals, and a bronze at the 2012 Olympics.
