Canada's dominance in the Olympic women's ski cross continued in Pyeongchang with Kelsey Serwa and Brittany Phelan winning gold and silver in the 2018 Winter Games.
Serwa and Phelan were commanding throughout the event, placing in second and third in the seeding, respectively, before they each won their 1/8 final and quarterfinal heats. They found themselves in the same semifinal, with Phelan finishing just ahead of her compatriot to place both Canadians in the final and guarantee at least one medal for Canada.

The Canadian women went one better, claiming the top two spots in the final and equalling the nation's finish in the same event four years earlier.

Serwa, who won silver in 2014 behind B.C.'s Marielle Thompson, jumped out to the lead from the beginning of the final and cruised to victory. Phelan had a tougher path to the podium, starting in fourth and battling past Switzerland's Fanny Smith and Sandra Naeslund of Sweden to eventually settle in behind her fellow Canadian for the one-two finish.
