Summer McIntosh adds another accolade to her already impressive resume at just 17 years old.

The Canadian swimmer easily won the gold medal in the 400-meter IM final at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She posted a time of 4:27.71, beating second place by 5.69 seconds. It's the largest margin of victory in the 400-meter IM since 1984.

Katie Grimes and Emma Weyant placed second and third, respectively, giving Team USA two medals.

McIntosh's time at the 2024 Olympics was three seconds off her personal best and world record of 4:24.38. McIntosh posted this time in May 2024.

She made her debut during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics at 14, placing fourth in the women's 400m freestyle. Her 4:02.42 time set a new Canadian national record.

McIntosh's gold medal in Paris is the first Olympic medal she's won.

2:41 p.m.: McIntosh's lead just kept growing as the race went on. She finished the race winning by 5.69 seconds, the largest margin of victory in the 400-meter IM since Tracy Caulkins won by 9.07 seconds in 1984.

2:37 p.m.: McIntosh easily takes home the gold medal with Grimes and Emma Weyant winning silver and bronze, respectfully.

2:36 p.m.: McIntosh extending her lead to 3.5 seconds after 250 meters. Grimes is a clear second place at the moment.

2:35 p.m.: McIntosh is ahead after 150 meters with Katie Grimes trailing about one second behind.

2:33 p.m.: The 400 IM has begun. McIntosh is in lane three.

2:13 p.m.: Summer McIntosh will take her position on the block shortly. Races are scheduled to begin at 2:30 p.m. ET.
