Canada vs. Sweden final score, results: Canada shuts out Sweden, advances to semifinals image

Canada shut out Sweden 11-0 and will advance to the semifinals in women's hockey at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing. 

Both Brianne Jenner and Sarah Fillier recorded hat tricks during the matchup and Jenner led the team with seven shots on goal. Jamie Lee Rattray, who recorded an assist and scored a power play goal at the end of the first period, was second to Jenner with five shot attempts. 

Sweden struggled throughout the matchup and couldn't follow through on scoring opportunities. The team only recorded seven shots on goal, all saved by goaltender Emerance Maschmeyer. 

The win allows Canada to extend its undefeated streak and advance to the semifinals of the tournament. Canada will play the winner of Finland-Japan in the semifinals.

10:12 a.m.: Hart is sent to the penalty box for hooking and Sweden will get a two-minute power play with five minutes remaining. 

10:07 a.m.: GOAL CANADA. Fillier scores a hat trick with an assist from Fast and Rattray. Canada leads 11-0 with under eight minutes remaining. 

10:04 a.m.: GOAL CANADA. Jenner scores a hat trick with an assist from Hart and Thompson. Canada leads 10-0. 

10:01 a.m.: Berglund is sent to the penalty box for an illegal hit on Fillier. Canada will get another two-minute power play with 12 minutes remaining.

9:50 a.m.: Backup goaltender Ida Bowman takes over in net for Sweden to start the final period. Canada still has a minute remaining on the power play. 

End of second period: Canada 9, Sweden 0

9:35 a.m.: Andersson gets sent to the box for tripping and Canada will get another power play to end the second period. 

9:33 a.m.: Soderberg makes multiple stops and prevents Canada from scoring on the power play, 

9:30 a.m.: Berglund is sent to the box for tripping and Canada gets another power play with over three minutes remaining in the second. 

9:28 a.m.: After she gets out of the penalty box, Shelton attempts a shot that bounces off the crossbar. 

9:24 a.m.: Shelton is sent to the penalty box for tripping and Sweden starts on the power play. After a few shot attempts, Sweden is left scoreless. 

9:17 a.m.: POWER PLAY GOAL CANADA. Clark scores on a shot down the middle with an assist from Bell and Hart. Canada leads 9-0 with 10:51 remaining in the second period. 

9:15 a.m.: Hjalmarsson is sent to the penalty box for boarding and Canada will get another power play. 

9:12 a.m.: GOAL CANADA. Jenner scores on a pass from Poulin and puts Canada ahead 8-0

9:09 a.m.: GOAL CANADA. Turnbull scores after a pass from Ambrose to put Canada ahead 7-0 with 13:04 remaining in the second period. 

9:07 a.m.: GOAL CANADA. Ambrose scores after multiple attempts from the forwards with an assist from Poulin and Thompson. Canada leads 6-0.

9:05 a.m.: POWER PLAY GOAL CANADA. Spooner follows through at the crease to extend Canada's lead to 5-0 in the second period. 

9:03 a.m.: Fallman gets sent to the penalty box for tripping and Canada will start on the power play. 

End of first period: Canada 4, Sweden 0

8:43 a.m.: POWER PLAY GOAL CANADA. Rattray scores on a shot with an assist from Thompson and Nurse. Canada leads 4-0 with less than a minute remaining in the first. 

8:42 a.m.: Hjalmarsson is sent to the penalty box for cross-checking and Canada will get another scoring chance on the power play. 

8:40 a.m.: GOAL CANADA. Fillier gets another goal in the same spot, 36 seconds after the power play goal and extends Canada's lead to 3-0

8:37 a.m.: POWER PLAY GOAL CANADA. Fillier gets a shot past Soderberg and puts Canada ahead by two. Johnston and Poulin record an assist on the play Canada leads 2-0 with 2:55 remaining in the first. 

8:35 a.m.: Jenner gets out of the penalty box and almost immediately gets a scoring chance. Adolfsson gets sent to the box for tripping and Canada gets its first power play.

8:32 a.m.: Canada takes control of the puck for the first minute of the penalty kill and leaves Sweden with 49 seconds to score at an advantage. 

8:29 a.m.: Jenner is sent to the penalty box for slashing and Sweden will start on another power play. 

8:20 a.m.: Maschmeyer makes a few critical saves on the penalty kill and keeps Sweden scoreless. 

8:17 a.m.: Nurse is sent to the penalty box for interference and Sweden starts on the power play. 

8:14 a.m.: GOAL CANADA. Jenner scores with an assist from Philip-Poulin and Nurse within the first three minutes of the first period. 

8:10 a.m.: Sweden wins the puck drop and the quarterfinal game is underway.
