Canada won six track and field medals at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago — and three of them came in an event that involved Andre De Grasse.
The star sprinter took gold in the men's 200m and bronze in the 100m, and he also helped power Canada to silver alongside Aaron Brown in the 4x100m relay. De Grasse and Brown are among the headliners aiming to represent Team Canada again at the 2024 Olympic trials.
Also looking for another Olympic medal is Damian Warner, who captured gold in the decathlon in Tokyo. Warner, who is hoping to participate in his fourth Olympics this summer, figures to be joined by Pierce LePage, who won the decathlon world title in 2023 and is looking for the same result in Paris.
Canada went from one track and field medal in 2012 to six in 2016 and 2020. Can the nation make another leap in 2024? That will depend on the roster, which will be determined at the Olympic track and field trials in Montreal.
