In every year the Winter Olympics has had a quarterfinals round, Canada has been one of the teams present.
The shortest trip in the tournament for Team Canada since it moved to having a quarterfinals matchup was in 2006, when the team was eliminated in the quarters by Russia in Turin, Italy.
On Tuesday, Canada will have a chance to advance to the quarterfinals yet again when it faces China in a rematch of the teams' third group-stage game.
The last time the two teams met on the ice, it was a thumping by Team Canada. With goals scored by Ben Street, Adam Tambellini and Eric O'Dell, Canada took a 3-0 lead with 10:06 remaining in the first period, and only built on the score from there, adding goals in the second and third from Kent Johnson and Corban Knight. Goalie Matt Tomkins did his part, stopping all 26 of China's shots in the 5-0 victory.
