Mark Scheifele stepped up in the clutch on Sunday.
The Winnipeg Jets forward assisted two game-tying goals and scored the game-winning goal in a 5-4 overtime win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Scheifele's first assist came in the second period when he passed the puck from the left faceoff circle to Nikolaj Ehlers on the other side of the net. Ehlers one-timed the pass past Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy to tie the game 3-3.
After the Lightning scored in the nearly seven minutes into the third period, Scheifele found Ehlers again with a little over five minutes left. Scheifele one-timed a pass from the slot, which went wide right. But Ehlers buried the rebound off the boards for his second of the game.
Scheifele's lone goal of the evening came with 41 seconds left in overtime after Vasilevskiy poked the puck away from Patrik Laine. The puck went straight to Scheifele in the slot and he scored the game-winner.
The goal was Schiefele's 21st of the season and Sunday's performance gives him a team-high 46 points this year. Ehler's two-goal game gives him 12 goals and 23 points this season.
