A native of Sault Ste. Marie, ON, Maurice began his career at the age of 29 - the second-youngest head coach in NHL history - with the Hartford Whalers in 1995. He stayed with the organization when they moved to Carolina and led them to their first Stanley Cup Final in 2002. He was fired in December of the 2003-04 season, and after a short stint in Toronto, was rehired by the Hurricanes in Dec. 2008.
After being fired by Carolina 25 games into the 2011-12 season, Maurice joined Winnipeg as their bench boss during the 2013-14 season. In 364 games with the Jets, the 51-year-old has a 189-132 record, including a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals last season.
Hall of Famer Scotty Bowman sits atop the list with 1,244 career wins.
