Saturday night means 'Hockey Night in Canada,' with one prominent team looking quite different.
After Mike Babcock was replaced by Sheldon Keefe earlier this week, the Toronto Maple Leafs played like a completely new team in an impressive win on Thursday against Arizona. The Leafs are hoping to ride that new-coach momentum in primetime Saturday.
Of course, there is plenty of other Canadian flavour on the weekly broadcast, as always.
NHL power rankings: The good (Oilers), bad (Flames) and ugly from Canada's teams so far
Joining the Maple Leafs are the Montreal Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets and Edmonton Oilers as the four Canadian teams in action. Here is a look at what to expect on HNIC.
Who plays on Hockey Night in Canada tonight?
- Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Colorado Avalanche
- Puck drop: 7 p.m. ET
After finally recording his first goal as a Maple Leaf, Tyson Barrie heads back to Colorado to face the team that drafted him 64th overall back in 2009. On the other side of the ice, Nazem Kadri meets the Leafs for the first time since the July trade that saw him and Calle Rosen swapped for Barrie and Alexander Kerfoot.
- New York Rangers vs. Montreal Canadiens
- Puck drop: 7 p.m. ET
Two teams headed in opposite directions meet at the Bell Centre as the impressive Habs look to improve on their current sixth-place standing in the East, while the Rangers enter Saturday near the bottom of the conference and in desperate need of a statement victory.
- Columbus Blue Jackets vs. Winnipeg Jets
- Puck drop: 7 p.m. ET
Despite dropping their most recent game, the Jets are still 7-2-1 over their past 10 games and within shouting distance of a top-three spot in the Western Conference. Standing in their way is a Columbus team that is riding a three-game win streak.
- Edmonton Oilers vs. Vegas Golden Knights
- Puck drop: 10 p.m. ET
The Connor McDavid-Leon Draisaitl duo has been the deadliest tandem in the league this season, and the on-ice magicians take their act to Sin City as the Oilers pay a visit to the Golden Knights in an all-Pacific Division contest. Edmonton currently occupies the top spot in the division, but Vegas could pull to within three points with a victory.
