Round 2: Fight?
The Calgary Flames and Edmonton Oilers are set to square off on Wednesday in what is now a heavily-anticipated contest. Normally, a midseason "Battle of Alberta" wouldn't register much interest outside of the two cities, as little more than two points and early playoff positioning would be on the line.
However, this edition of the intra-provincial rivalry has been fired up by the incidents that took place on Jan. 11. In the last meeting between the Alberta clubs, Matthew Tkachuk and Zack Kassian were involved in a number of on-ice exchanges that led to Kassian taking matters into his own hands — literally — as the Oilers veteran instigated a fight with Tkachuk that the Flames forward had no interest in reciprocating.
The result was a win for Calgary, a suspension for Kassian, and a whole lot of conversation about Tkachuk's role in escalating the situation.

On Wednesday, Kassian's suspension is up and he and the rest of the Oilers will play host to Tkachuk's Flames in what will surely be a tense matchup.
By a quirk of the scheduling gods, these two teams will meet up again Saturday in Calgary, making for a very interesting week in Wild Rose Country.
